Travel Planning

Motts is actively developing its skill base in this increasingly important sector of the market.

Julie Kiely has recently been appointed to the TfL Panel of Travel Plan Best Practice Advisors. She is one of a small number of specialists working with TfL to provide large companies - both public sector and private sector - spite specific travel plan advice and assistance. Julie had worked with a range of organisations on travel plan development and wider sustainable transport issues. She was responsible for the set up and co-ordination of the HUMUS Travel Plan Network in Sheffield, which included an NHS Trust, University, Museum and Galleries Trust, the City Council and the Passenger Transport Executive. She has also worked on a range of individual site travel plan plans, including the Museum of Liverpool and Walsall College.

Julie's extensive skills and experience have been supplemented by the addition of John Rider and Damian Price to the Motts team. Both John and Damian have considerable experience in strategy and policy development as well as bringing direct experience in developing and implementing travel plans.

Damian has worked as Travel Plan co-ordinator for the Thames Gateway London Partnership, managing the travel planning activities for this key sub regional partnership. More recently, he was Transport and Planning Manager at London Councils. Damian has a keen interest in sustainable transport issues. Whilst at London Councils he chaired the pan London Sustainable Transport Forum, which aimed to develop and share best practice advice across London's 33 local authorities.

Before joining Motts, John was the Surface Access Strategy Manager at Heathrow Airport, responsible amongst other things for managing and developing the airport travel plan. Since 1997, Heathrow have had a very active travel plan forum and now operate one of the largest car share schemes in Europe, with over 4,000 members, 60% of whom share on a regular basis.
